John Pearson replaced Ian Baird at Centre Forward after thirty-seven minutes, Mike Whitlow replaced Mickey Thomas at Inside Left two minutes later, both being enforced changes due to injury, and Bobby Davison replaced Left Back Glynn Snodin at half-time. The injuries to Ian Baird (badly bruised left shin) and Mickey Thomas (knee ligament damage) took their toll, but Leeds held their own until Noel Blake was sent off for an elbow that floored Marc Van Der Linden, in the sixty-fourth minute when the floodgates opened. Luis Oliveira, Luc Nilis 2, Marc Van Der Linden 2, scored for Anderlecht. T. Simpson was the Referee. (Anderlecht team details and scorers thanks to Stephen Barnes)
